Established in 2007, GDS has evolved to become a consultancy of Chartered Building Surveyors operating across the Southeast and London from our offices in Tunbridge Wells Kent.

We have developed a team of highly personable and technically proficient surveyors delivering high quality projects for our clients and, as a result, a large majority of our work is repeat business.

Our range of services has expanded to serve the needs of our clients and includes providing Building Surveying, Employer’s Agent, Design & Contract Administration, Project Management, Party Wall Surveying, Principal Designer, Site Inspection, Decarbonisation and Retro-fit Advisory services.

GDS has extensive experience of a broad range of property types and sectors but has particular expertise working for Housing Associations and, in particular, supporting the development and refurbishment/ improvement of sheltered and supported housing schemes.

We have recently worked as Employers Agent for a 48-unit new build Extra Care scheme for Eldon Housing Association and regularly work on projects for adults with complex needs with clients such as Fitzroy, Lookahead and Saxonweald Housing Association.

Our directors Matthew Mather and Steven Roper have amassed considerable experience in specialist housing during their careers having successfully delivered projects for Sheltered Housing, Extra Care, Domestic Violence, Adults with Learning Difficulties, Disability, Autism, Dementia and Complex Needs.

Demand for our retrofit advisory service is growing and we have completed several retrofit assessment, design and coordination schemes recently for Housing Associations such as 106 street properties for Hyde in Chichester.

GDS understand that the best way to establish a strong and stable team ethos is hands-on management. Our directors work alongside our surveyors to share their experience, achieving the best results for our clients as well as developing our people in a supportive environment.

Having director involvement at project level means that all schemes regardless of size have the same level of expertise applied to them, with directors being fully engaged on each project. This approach results in quick decision making and ensures projects are always resourced as required to meet our clients’ expectations and timescales. We can offer clients enhanced customer service, overseen at the highest level within our business.
