Gibberd Architects is owned and managed by four Partners, having been in continuous Partnership since 1965. The Partners are assisted by associate led teams and share the management of a range of highly experienced design professionals with multi sector experience which we find of huge benefit as there is cross pollination of learning between sectors. The Practice has been delivering both private and public sector residential design since the Practice was founded by Sir Frederick Gibberd. The Practice is highly sought after for there award winning skill at all stages of the process from inception, through to construction and completion on site. Project scales range from private residencies to large scale multi -unit and multi -phase masterplan schemes. the Practices is skilled in both new build and refurbishment with expertise also working with listed buildings, in conservation areas and with in-house interior design.
At the heart of our Practice is the ethos to develop buildable design solutions which push the brief, delivering to our clients robust designs which are of high quality and longevity, on time and in budget. the Practice is proficient with a wealth of experience working within the framework, designing to the London Housing Design Guide, Wheelchair Housing Design requirements and the Nationally Prescribed Space Standards, whilst also following best practice Guidance of the national Housing Federation Housing Standard Handbook to design high quality living spaces.
The practice has specialist skills in cladding and envelope design and is complemented by cladding specific PI cover we hold and showcase our expertise with a number of recent residential buildings over 18 meters.
The Practice values sustainable design and is proactively supporting our clients to de-carbonise their existing building stock. As a Practice we were the designers of Lion House for DEFRA, which was the first building of its kind to receive BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating and was recognised in the BREEAM Awards. The Practice continues to champion sustainable design with our Net Zero policy and a strong interest in the principles of Passivhaus design.
The Practice works in BIM and is developing its standards to gain PAS 1192 accreditation. Through the use of BIM the practice recognises the value that this brings to our clients in providing a medium that is easily accessible to all, to quickly understand, engage and contribute to the design process which we find is particularly beneficial.
