Rock Townsend is a design-led architecture practice based in London Waterloo, working on projects throughout the UK in the residential, education, office and community sectors. Our team bring substantial experience of various project scales and types including master-planning, regeneration, new build, refurbishment, listed building works and interior fit-out, working across both design and delivery stages.

We work with a broad range of public and private sector clients, many of whom we have built long-term relationships with to deliver continuous improvement over numerous projects. Our clients range from Housing Associations, Local Authorities, Academy Trusts, the Education Funding Agency and several universities to commercial occupiers, retail brands, developers and many of the UK’s main contractors.

The practice is based on a workshop culture in which the focus is on collective effort. We welcome clients and project partners into the studio, displacing ego and self-determination with a collaborative approach. This focusses each project on addressing specific client needs and combines the team’s expertise to deliver best value for money.

We are a fully BIM-enabled studio and blend these new technologies with sketching, model-making and cross-disciplinary discussion, thinking constructively about not just design quality but all technical and commercial influences on a project. This enables us to provide holistic design advice that balances creative ideas with practical solutions, delivering high quality projects on programme, within budget and with a view to long-term sustainability. The resulting work has been recognised with several recent awards from Building Design, FX Magazine and the British Council for Offices.

We believe that successful projects often result from a close-knit team working towards shared goals. As a medium-sized practice we offer significant Partner involvement at all stages of a project, a talented team of young architects and the team consistency that builds relationships and delivers the most value over time.
